The Global FoodBanking Network will host the launch of the Asia Pacific Incubator at a meeting in Seoul, October 21-23 and the Asia Pacific Food Bank Regional Summit, October 23-25. The two events will merge at a reception on October 23 to celebrate food banking in the region as an extension of our global World Food Day events.
FoodForward South Africa will celebrate World Food Day with a Celebrity Chef Cook Off with local schools in attendance at Cape Quarter in Greenpoint, Cape Town from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on October 16. FoodForward SA is also asking schools to participate by hosting a food drive to bring awareness amongst students about the importance of food security and the serious problem of world hunger. All food drives will culminate at the cook off event, where FoodForward SA will collect the donations.

This World Food Day, Banco de Alimentos Honduras will be promoting their Project Zero Hunger Campaign throughout October. Project Zero Hunger is a massive collection of food and grocery product with corporate partners. The 1st Latin American Summit on Food Loss and Waste is being held in Bogotá, Colombia by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Inter-American Development Bank, the #SinDesperdicio platform and the Departamento Nacional de Planeación of Colombia.
Food bank leaders from Mexico, Chile and Colombia will serve on a panel, with other food bank representatives from Guatemala and Ecuador in attendance.

The Taiwan People’s Food Bank Association has partnered with two other local non-governmental organizations to organize a series of activities for World Food Day, October 12-13. The events will include three sessions focusing on all areas regarding hunger and the elimination of food waste. Craig Nemitz, Director of Field Services, The Global FoodBanking Network will serve on a food safety panel during the weekend’s festivities.
In addition, the food bank will be promoting the “Clear Your Plate” social media campaign which will run through World Food Day. Follow the campaign on Taiwan People’s Food Bank Facebook and Instagram.
The Food Bank Singapore Ltd will host “Feed the City” at five different locations across Singapore during the week of World Food Day. “Feed the City” is a community engagement event to make meals for people facing hunger. This event brings together members of the communities, participating restaurants, volunteers and the participating food bank beneficiary organization.

Foodbank Rus will be organizing a number of meal packaging campaigns across Russia, in partnership with its partners, Cargill, Kellogg’s, KFC, and PepsiCo. In addition, on October 16, the food bank will hold a food drive in Novosibirsk. The food drive will take place in 80 stores and will be staffed by 500 volunteers.

Banco de Alimentos Panamá will hold a number of events in celebration of World Food Day. Throughout October, the food bank will work with the media to raise awareness about the food bank’s role in addressing hunger in Panama. On October 10, the food bank will participate in the National Bank’s Health Fair to promote eating nutritious food. And later on October 15, the food bank will celebrate its anniversary by holding a private event that shows recognition and appreciation for its donors and volunteers.

As part of Australia’s Anti-Poverty Week, Foodbank Australia will launch the Foodbank Hunger Report 2019 on October 13 which gives a snapshot of food insecurity in Australia. Foodbank Australia CEO Brianna Casey and General Manager and Company Secretary Sarah Pennell will visit Australian Parliament House and meet with Ministers of Parliament to advocate a National Food Security Strategy.
